Itinerary

Day 1Rainbow Mountain

We will leave Cusco early at about 4:30 AM and drive roughly 2 hours toward Cusipata. Along the way, we will pass through small Andean villages where we will see llamas, alpacas, and local farms. At dawn, we will enjoy breakfast in Cusipata, fueling up before beginning our hike.

The hike will begin from Phulawasipata or trailhead at about 4,600 meters above sea level. We will walk through rugged terrain, encountering steep slopes and open skies. We will ascend for about 2 hours, witnessing panoramic views of valleys, mountain ridges, and Ausangate snow peaks. We will reach Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain) at about 5,100 meters above sea level, where the colored mineral stripes will dazzle our eyes.

After enjoying views, photos, and rest at Vinicunca, we will hike down toward Red Valley viewpoint. This section will offer different colors, unique rock formations, and fewer tourists. We will then enjoy a buffet lunch in Cusipata community or nearby after the return from hiking. In the afternoon, we will drive back to Cusco, arriving around 7:30 PM.

This Rainbow Mountain Peru day tour was breathtaking! The colors were unbelievable, and our guide explained everything clearly. The hike was tough because of the altitude, but the views at the top were worth every step
