Next, we will head to the Paracas National Reserve, a stunning area where the desert meets the sea. We will admire its dramatic cliffs, red beaches, and turquoise waters. The Playa Roja and La Mina Beach will show the contrast of colors that define this protected ecosystem. Here, we may enjoy a peaceful lunch near the ocean while appreciating the beauty of the Peruvian coast.

Our final destination will be the Huacachina Oasis, the highlight of this Huacachina Peru Full Day adventure. Surrounded by towering sand dunes, this desert oasis offers a magical landscape for buggy rides and sandboarding. As the sun sets, the golden light will transform the dunes into a dreamlike scene.  Itinerary

Day 1Full Day Adventure from Lima: Paracas, Islas Ballestas, and Huacachina Oasis

The Ica Paracas Tour – Huacachina Peru Full Day begins early in the morning. At 5:00 A.M., participants depart from Lima and travel south along the Pan-American Highway. The drive covers approximately 260 kilometers to the coastal town of Paracas. The early departure ensures enough time to explore the main attractions at a relaxed pace.

Upon arrival in Paracas, the group boards a modern speedboat to visit the Islas Ballestas, part of a protected marine sanctuary. The islands are home to diverse wildlife, including Humboldt penguins, sea lions, and large colonies of seabirds. During the excursion, visitors also view the Candelabro de Paracas, an ancient geoglyph carved into the sand. The combination of ocean air, wildlife, and landscape creates a memorable coastal experience.

After the boat tour, the itinerary continues to the Paracas National Reserve, a natural area where the desert meets the Pacific Ocean. The visit includes stops at Playa Roja, known for its red sand, and Playa La Mina, recognized for its turquoise waters. The viewpoints along the route provide excellent opportunities for photographs and sightseeing. Participants will have time to walk and appreciate the distinctive scenery of the Peruvian coast.

Around midday, the tour pauses in the Lagunillas area for lunch. Local restaurants serve traditional Peruvian seafood dishes with views of the ocean. During this break, the guide shares information about the reserve’s ecosystem and geology. This part of the tour combines regional cuisine with an appreciation of the surrounding landscape.

In the afternoon, the group travels to the Huacachina Oasis, located about 70 kilometers from Paracas. This natural lagoon, surrounded by tall sand dunes, offers one of southern Peru’s most iconic desert landscapes. Visitors take part in activities such as buggy rides across the dunes and sandboarding on the smooth slopes. As sunset approaches, the dunes glow with warm golden and red tones, creating a striking view reflected in the oasis.

Before returning to Lima, the tour includes a stop at a vineyard in Ica. Here, participants learn about the production of Pisco and wine and take part in a short tasting session. This final visit offers insight into local traditions and regional flavors. The journey back to Lima concludes around 10:00 P.M., marking the end of a full day of exploration combining sea, desert, and culture.

This tour completely exceeded my expectations. Paracas was beautiful, and the boat tour to the Ballestas Islands was incredible. Seeing sea lions so close and watching the birds along the cliffs felt like being inside a documentary. The whole ride was smooth and very well organized.
