Itinerary

Day 1Queswachaca Bridge

We will leave our hotel in Cusco early at 4:30 PM in the morning and drive toward Cusipata. The journey will pass through rolling Andean hills and small traditional villages, giving us a glimpse of daily life in rural Peru. We will stop in Cusipata to enjoy a traditional Andean breakfast with fresh local ingredients.

After breakfast, we will continue to Quehue, where we will walk among terraced fields and colorful farms. The scenery along the route will feature rivers, valleys, and the majestic Andes mountains rising around us.

We will arrive at the Qeswachaka Bridge, the last remaining Inca rope bridge still rebuilt annually using ancestral techniques. The bridge spans 28 meters above sea level across and hangs 30 meters above the Apurímac River. The annual communal reconstruction of the bridge will show us the unity and heritage of the Quechua people.

After exploring the bridge, we will see the four nearby lagoons: Pomacanchi, Ancascocha, Pampamarca, and Acopia. We will enjoy stunning reflections of the mountains in the tranquil waters, observe local birds, and take photographs of the untouched natural surroundings. The quiet of the lagoons will provide a perfect balance to the adventure at the bridge.

We will return to Cusipata for a hearty Andean-style lunch featuring local specialties. The drive back to Cusco will allow us to relax and enjoy the highland landscapes one final time. This full-day experience will combine culture, history, and nature into an unforgettable journey.
