Itinerary

Day 1Tour Maras and Moray

We will begin the Moray Maras and Salt Mines Tour with hotel pickup in Cusco. We will travel across the Sacred Valley in a comfortable vehicle. We will see traditional Andean villages, farming fields, and mountain views along the route. The journey will introduce us to the cultural and natural richness of the region.

We will arrive first at Moray, located at 3,500 meters above sea level. We will explore the impressive circular terraces built by the Incas. These terraces worked as an ancient agricultural laboratory with different microclimates. Our guide will explain how the Incas tested crops and developed advanced farming techniques. We will have time to walk around, take photos, and admire the engineering of the site.

Next, we will continue to the Maras Salt Mines. This site includes more than 3,000 salt pools on the mountainside. We will observe how families still collect salt using the same ancestral methods. The shining white pools will create an extraordinary contrast with the surrounding brown hills. We will learn about the economic and cultural importance of salt during Inca and colonial times.

After visiting Maras, we will enjoy spectacular landscapes of the Sacred Valley. We will have opportunities to purchase local products and handicrafts from the community. Finally, we will return to Cusco and arrive at our hotel in the afternoon. The tour will end with memories of history, culture, and nature combined in one experience.
