Cancellation Policies

General Information

In general, cancellations and refunds for reservations made with Machu Picchu Peru Trek are governed by the type of fare corresponding to the booked service (tour, activity, or travel package).

However, under exceptional circumstances where major events prevent or legally prohibit the execution of a tour, the Disruptive Events Policy may apply.

When this policy takes effect, clients may cancel their reservation and receive a 90% refund, a travel credit, or another form of compensation — regardless of the type of fare originally booked.

Please note that the Disruptive Events Policy may not apply to third-party providers such as ticket offices, train services, hotels, or airlines; therefore, each case must be evaluated before any refund, modification, or related action is processed.

The Disruptive Events Policy does not constitute an insurance policy.


About Cancellation Fare Types

At Machu Picchu Peru Trek, we offer three types of cancellation fares:

  • Refundable Fare

  • Flexible Fare

  • Non-Refundable Fare


Refundable Fare

Did your plans change and you need to cancel your reservation? Don’t worry — this is the best option!

  • Refund: Up to 90% of the total amount paid.

  • Cancellation and Refund Notice: Cancellations can be made up to 24 hours before the start of the booked service, with a 90% refund.

  • Modification Notice: You may also change the tour date or the reservation holder up to 24 hours before the tour begins.

  • Refund Processing Time: Between 3 and 15 calendar days.

  • Refund Options:

    • Direct refund to your credit or debit card (only if the payment was made through the Niubiz platform).

    • PayPal refund, subject to PayPal’s own transaction fees.

    • Cash refund, available during office hours.

    • Bank transfers or Yape payments are available only for Peruvian travelers.

  • No-Show: If the traveler fails to appear for the tour, no refund applies.

Important: In the case of Machu Picchu or other similar services, any change of date or reservation holder must be evaluated in advance to determine any applicable costs or restrictions.


Flexible Fare

Did your plans change and you just need to reschedule? Don’t worry — this is a great option!

  • Refund: Partial refund of up to 50% of the amount paid.

  • Refund Notice: You can request a refund up to 7 days before the start of the booked service.

  • Modification Notice: You can reschedule your tour up to 48 hours before it begins.

  • Refund Processing Time: Between 7 and 90 calendar days.

  • Refund Method: Processed via PayPal or cash (during office hours).

  • No-Show: If the traveler fails to appear for the tour, no refund applies.

Important: For Machu Picchu or other similar services, any change of date or reservation holder must be evaluated beforehand to determine applicable fees or restrictions.
Once a date change has been requested, a refund can no longer be issued.


Non-Refundable Fare

Are your plans firm and final? This option is ideal for you.

  • Refund: No refunds apply.

  • Refund Notice: Not applicable.

  • Modification Notice: You may request a change of tour date up to 5 days before the start of the booked service.

  • Refund Processing Time: Not applicable.

  • No-Show: If the traveler fails to appear for the tour, no refund applies.

Important: In the case of Machu Picchu or other services, any change of date must be evaluated beforehand to determine possible costs or restrictions.
