The Colca Canyon tour will take us through one of the deepest canyons in the world, reaching 3,400 meters above sea level. We will travel through stunning Andean landscapes filled with green valleys and highland vegetation. Along the way, we will visit small traditional villages and observe local culture and history.

We will explore Chivay, a charming town where we can relax in natural hot springs. The thermal waters will refresh us after the journey and offer a perfect pause. We will also enjoy traditional folk performances reflecting the valley’s living heritage.

The highlight will be the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, where Andean condors will soar above the canyon. We will watch these majestic birds in flight and take in panoramic vistas. The scenery will inspire awe and provide exceptional photo opportunities.

Throughout the tour, we will encounter llamas, alpacas, and vicuñas grazing in the highlands. Ancient archaeological sites will reveal the region’s rich pre-Columbian history. This 2-day adventure will combine nature, culture, and adventure for an unforgettable experience.

 Itinerary   

Day 1Arequipa - Mirador de Volcanes - Chivay

We will start the tour with a hotel pick-up in Arequipa at 8:00 AM. Our journey will head toward Chivay, the heart of the Colca Valley. Along the route, we will stop at Pampas de Cañahuas, home to vicuñas grazing freely on highland plains.

Next, we will admire the vast scenery at Patahuasi, Taqora, and Patapampa. Here, we will see volcanic peaks, highland lagoons, and unique Andean wildlife. We will take multiple photo breaks to capture snow-capped mountains and panoramic landscapes.

Around midday, we will arrive in Chivay and check into our hotel. We will enjoy a local lunch before visiting the La Calera hot springs in the afternoon. The thermal waters will help us relax, surrounded by stunning natural beauty. Later, we will attend a folkloric show at a small museum in town. Dinner will be at our own expense, and we will rest overnight in Chivay.

Day 2Chivay - Mirador Cruz del Cóndor - Arequipa

We will start early at 5:30 AM after breakfast. Our first stop will be the charming town of Yanque to witness traditional dances and visit its colonial church. The lively atmosphere will introduce us to local customs and culture.

Next, we will arrive at the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint around 8:00 AM. We will watch Andean condors soar over one of the deepest canyons in the world. We can take an optional 40-minute walk along the canyon edge for breathtaking perspectives and photography.

On the way back, we will stop at Antahuilque viewpoint to admire the valley and ancient agricultural terraces. Then, we will explore the Choquetico tombs, a fascinating archaeological site on Cerro Cabanaconde. Finally, we will visit the picturesque town of Maca and its baroque-mestizo church before returning to Chivay for lunch.

After lunch, we will begin the journey back to Arequipa, arriving around 5:30 PM. This completes our immersive Colca Canyon tour.
